When I asked Sara Katherine at the end of our session to consider any other “traditions” they had that I wanted to ensure were captured, she responded “this is kind of just it. We just play, read books…” I’m afraid I caught her off guard with the question, and perhaps made it seem like there should be more notable activities in the day to day. What I love about these photos are that they contain the heart of a home- stolen squeezes, comforting arms, knowing glances, and playful adoration. These are the daily traditions that paint your picture of parenthood. “The way you sat with me and helped me build a train set”, “The way you pushed me on the swing while mom flew beside me”, “The way you bent down and kissed my head any chance you could”- just a few words, seemingly small, strewn together to create the story of your child’s life.
